Recent Advances in Healthcare Artificial Intelligence and Telemedicine Integration

Recent developments across the digital health landscape highlight a growing emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence directly into clinical workflows, specialty practices, and nursing care. According to recent announcements, technology providers are rolling out specialized solutions designed to address administrative burdens and support decision-making at the bedside.

Agentic AI in Specialty Practices

In the telemedicine and electronic health record sector, Nextech announced multi-year partnerships with Assort Health and EliseAI to integrate agentic AI tools into its specialty platforms. The integrations aim to connect artificial intelligence capabilities with existing patient scheduling, intake, and communication workflows. As part of the collaboration, Assort Health will co-develop a solution tailored to ophthalmology practices, a specialty noted for complex patient access workflows involving testing sequences, insurance, and referral statuses. Company executives stated that the tools are designed to resolve inquiries rather than simply route calls, reducing front-office workloads.

Clinical Decision Support for Nurses

Meanwhile, Elsevier launched ClinicalKey Nursing AI, a clinical decision support tool built specifically for nursing professionals. Company representatives noted that many existing health intelligence tools are primarily designed for physicians, leaving nurses relying on generic solutions. Elsevier reported that a four-week internal evaluation involving 96 registered nurses across the United States found that 94% of participants felt the tool increased their confidence in clinical decision-making, while 91% stated it fit into their workflow. Additionally, 73% reported time savings during their shifts.

Federal Funding and New Network Launches

In federal funding news, the Department of Health and Human Services announced that the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology awarded a total of $1.5 million to the MedStar Health Research Institute and the Regenstrief Institute for clinical artificial intelligence projects. These awards focus on advancing agentic artificial intelligence in clinical care and assessing laboratory interoperability gaps.

Additional platform launches included a new cancer care network by Solera Health, aimed at connecting health plan members to care navigation and at-home screenings, and a portfolio of data and analytics solutions introduced by Arcadia.
